Sephardic synagogue of the Moroccan tradition, since 1965
The Moroccan synagogue on Sheppard Avenue.
Tiferet Israel was started by families newly arrived in Toronto from Morocco. We still pray here today, in the melodies and customs our parents and grandparents brought with them.

A big family in a small room
We are an Orthodox Sephardic congregation, and most of us are Moroccan: Spanish speakers and French speakers, with children and grandchildren who answer in English. Our tefillah and our ceremonies follow the tradition of our ancestors, down to the tunes.
It is a small synagogue. People notice when you walk in, and somebody will find you a seat.
You do not have to be Moroccan, or a member, to pray with us. Come on Friday night or for Shabbat morning.

Friday night, the way it was in Morocco
Shir HaShirim, the Song of Songs, is read here every Friday evening, with Minha and Arvit for Shabbat. The time changes with the season and is announced in our WhatsApp group each week.
Shabbat morning begins at 9:00.
